Nowra Fishing Report | May 3,2024

The Rocks & Beaches
If you have ever wanted to target Bonito from the rocks then now would be a great time! The Bonito have been so thick some days you just can't get anything past them and some of the Bonito lately have been over 4 kg. Macktuna have turned up in good numbers and have great fun on lures or bait. Rat Kingfish have also been plentiful with the only struggle finding one of legal size but with persistence, you should be able to grab a feed. Salmon and Tailor have been on the majority of Beaches lately and some of them have been huge! Local beaches have had healthy numbers of solid bream if you can get a bait past the salmon.

River & Lakes
The Shoalhaven River has been fishing really well with incredible numbers of Bream being easy to find. The rock walls and Jetties have great numbers of Luderick and even some mullet to keep the kids happy. Some reports of Mulloway here and there but fishing the river over the coming months will depend on rain levels as this report goes out we have had a week of decent rain with more predicted, fingers crossed the weather gods turn the taps off soon. The Basin has been producing all the usual bread and butter species as well as some school-sized Mulloway and some decent-sized snapper.

Offshore
With marlin slowly disappearing anglers are trying their luck with kingfish with some nice fish being landed but getting past the smaller rats can be a challenge most days. Hopefully, we see a good run of Tuna in the coming months. There have been some great Snapper taken inshore the past few weeks and even some small Mako Sharks.
